Blow some air into your bag.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you use a bag without a filter, you can simply blow a little air into it, so as to create a space between the two walls of the garment, before adhering it well to your peristomal skin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This will allow you to prevent the vacuum effect from occurring and, more importantly, allow the feces to reach the bottom of the bag without any obstruction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b style=\"color: #222222;\">2. Cover the bag filter to prevent vacuum effect<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ironically, some bags have a filter that works really effectively, removing most of the air from the bag.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This causes the vacuum effect that consequently prevents effluent from reaching the lower part of the garrison.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To solve this problem, we recommend that you cover the filter (usually located on the top of the bag) with one of the small stickers that come with the bags.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The use of an adhesive has a twofold advantage:  <\/span><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>  1. You can prevent the vacuum effect.  <\/b><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>  2. You will have full control of bad odor spills. You will be able to go to the bathroom and conveniently remove air whenever you need to, without having to worry about releasing bad odor around.   <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Take note: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remove the adhesive from the filter at night to avoid gas buildup when you sleep. Otherwise, another problem may occur that is not related to glueing but to bag bulging. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>3. Use a lubricating deodorant<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b><\/b><b><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many ostomates have found it extremely useful to use a lubricating deodorant to ensure that the inside of the pouch is slippery enough to allow stool to reach the underside of the garment, thus avoiding the risk of possible glueing.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be sure to apply lubricating fluid around the plate and inside the pouch. Then, gently move the garment and make sure that all areas inside the pouch are well lubricated.   <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other ostomates claim that some home remedies might be as good as lubricating deodorant.  <\/span><b>Such as baby moisturizing oil and vegetable oil (sunflower or olive oil).<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another excellent alternative, preferred by people with an ostomy, is to apply a few drops of <\/span><b>specific stoma care cleanser inside the pouch. <\/b> <\/p>\n<p><b><i>It is absolutely important to use an ostomy-specific soap that does not damage the stoma.  <\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>A <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/farmoderm.shop\/product\/bioderm-stoma-plus-emulsione-attiva-dermodetergente-2x1\/\">self-balancing ph solution<\/a><\/strong><b>, also recommended for cleaning the ostomy itself, is definitely the best option.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unlike other cleansers, it is designed for fragile and sensitive peristomal skin. Therefore, it is free of substances that could damage the ostomy, peristomal skin or pouch!   <\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We advise you not to use any other product, as it may reduce the time you can use your garment, affect the adherence power of your plaque, or irritate your ostomy.  <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<h3><b>6. <\/b><b>Manually push the stool to the bottom of the pouch.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You may find it difficult at first, but have faith, it is a good solution when you happen to have thick, sticky stools.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don&#8217;t be afraid to push stool to the bottom of the pouch. Keep this advice in mind especially when wearing an ostomy band or very tight clothing.   <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>7. Increase fluid and fiber intake.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Especially if you have a colostomy, your stools will vary greatly from being soft to a sticky consistency every day, depending on your diet, hydration, and even the medications you are taking.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Therefore, to make stool less sticky, you can start:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>By avoiding starchy foods <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(such as rice, pasta and potatoes), <\/span><b>processed foods, peanut butter and almonds. <\/b> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Trying to increase your intake of insoluble fiber<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> found in vegetables, fruits and whole grains. These types of fiber do not dissolve during digestion, so they add volume to stools and promote bowel movement and ultimately prevent thick and\/or dry stools. <\/span> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Pay attention: <\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Avoid these foods if you have recently had your ostomy surgery.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Considering taking probiotics daily<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, because many studies show that they promote a healthy balance of gut bacteria, which contribute to improved digestive health and immune function.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Drinking a lot of liquids<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
