TOGETHER TOWARDS A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

“”This is the time to choose what kind of world we want for tomorrow, for our children and for generations to come. Our 2030 commitments mark a crucial new stage in the challenges facing our planet.””

OUR PATH TO SUSTAINABILITY

GLOBAL ACTION IS NECESSARY AND POSSIBLE

tartaruga

Every year, more than eight million tonnes of plastic end up in the oceans, endangering marine biodiversity, polluting our environment and putting everyone’s health at risk. At the same time, climate change – caused by human emissions of greenhouse gases – poses a very real threat to our planet and our very lives, and is already devastating the world.  Almost everyone agrees that ‘global action is needed more than ever to limit our environmental and social impact and begin the journey towards a sustainable future’. Farmoderm is committed to communicating its climate commitments correctly to avoid risks of greenwashing.

How does Farmoderm fight climate change?

A strategy based on 3 pillars

1

REDUCE CO2 EMISSIONS

Our decarbonisation roadmap gives us a clear vision of where to focus and how to set our path towards a net-zero future. It is a dynamic process – from 2030 to 2050 – focusing on the importance of transforming the Energy System, the opportunity to explore Innovative Technologies and the need for real Collaboration by all.

2

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING

Nowadays, the world of packaging is inundated with misinformation. That is why we are constantly analysing the various solutions that best suit our business and our environmental commitment. Our goal is to use sustainable packaging. we are reducing single-use plastic through the use of reusable dispensers and lowering the weight of our 500 ml and 1000 ml bottles (-5 g/each bottle).

3

IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE

We have long been committed to making a positive contribution to society. We have dedicated more than 30 years to finding the best skin care solutions for the frail and their caregivers. The time has come to accelerate our efforts. We want to show that we can be part of the solution to the challenges the world is facing and, to do so, we are funding certified climate action projects that have a direct impact on climate change mitigation, sustainable development and biodiversity.

REDUCE OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

Our commitment to reduce CO2 emissions and combat climate change.

50 % in meno di emissioni
Our overall goal for 2025 is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 per cent (scope 1 and scope 2)
100 % energia rinnovabile
By 2025 we will use only electric cars powered by renewable energy and move document management to the cloud with zero net emissions.
0 fornitori inquinanti
By 2030, we are committed to selecting strategic suppliers with zero net emissions

OUR ROADMAP

2030 - Fornitori Net Zero Emissions
Ci impegneremo a selezionare fornitori che attestino le loro emissioni nette zero

Farmoderm offsets its carbon emissions into the atmosphere by supporting and participating in climate change projects.

SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

For the Ophir Line, we chose a PEFC™ certified wooden cap and glass jar. Our new wet wipe is made of biodegradable fibres.

NEW REFILL SYSTEM

We are designing a new system for customers to reuse our bottles. Customers will be able to refill the bottles several times with our formulations to avoid plastic waste.

PLASTIC SAVED

In 2021, we lowered the grammage of our 500 ml and 1000 ml bottles (-5 g/each bottle). Based on the CO2 emission values due to sourcing, refining and production of each kg of plastic, we have saved 7517 kg CO2 (-7.5 t CO2).

PAPER REDUCTION

Every year we reduce the amount of paper used in our operations. Now, we have eliminated the paper sheet by introducing the use of QR codes.

100 % RECYCLED MATERIALS

Our commitment for 2030 is to use bottles made from 100 % recycled and reusable raw materials, which are more respectful of the planet and the already heavily compromised marine environment.

CONTRIBUTING TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Our commitment to fight climate change, protect natural ecosystems and support local communities through projects in Rwanda and Madagascar

PROJECT OF WATER SUPPLY

Water is a universal right recognised by the United Nations General Assembly, but unfortunately still not for everyone. In some areas around the city of Tulear, one of the poorest cities in the whole of Madagascar, 80% of the population still has no direct access to drinking water. The ‘Water is life’ project is aimed at building and securing a network of wells to increase the supply of safe, clean drinking water for families living in the city’s surroundings. The construction of the drinking water systems started in 2018, and today 24 villages are involved with over 65,000 people benefiting. In order to ensure the quality of the water supplied, targeted maintenance and thorough cleaning of the technologies are carried out three times a month. In addition to contributing to climate change mitigation with over 80,000 tCO2 reduced per year, one of the main objectives of the project is to raise the awareness of the local population on the correct and safe management of water resources, developing a new awareness of hygiene and contributing to sustainable development. Hygiene campaigns are periodically organised in the villages to illustrate the importance of drinking water and its conservation, with particular attention to proper hand washing.

PROJECT
EFFICIENT STOVES

Even today in Rwanda, firewood and charcoal derived from wood represent a significant percentage of the country’s energy consumption, and the predominant biomass for cooking and boiling water, especially in rural areas. Cooking still takes place using traditional, and inefficient, devices, which produce large amounts of smoke and pollution in indoor areas of homes.
The main objective of the project is to drastically reduce the annual use of biomass for local communities through the distribution of efficient, low-consumption stoves: designed to balance efficiency, safety, cost, stability and durability, with a focus on the use of locally available materials. By eliminating the consumption of firewood, the project contributes to climate change mitigation by reducing the amount of emissions released into the atmosphere, to a concrete decrease in local deforestation and to the preservation of biodiversity. Households also save money by reducing the need for fuel to cook the same amount of food, and health is improved by reducing indoor air pollutants due to cleaner stoves.
